The site for the proposal was once the coach house to no.9 of the Georgian terrace on Mount Street crescent. All that remained was an elegantly curving brick wall with granite capping in this quiet backwater of central Dublin. The original pedestrian and coach entrance had been blocked up. We proposed a simple building of contrasting smooth white render to rise up from the existing elegant base. We reinstated the main pedestrian opening and replaced the coach bay with a carport. Sleeping quarters are on the ground floor and open to the garden. to maximize views and sunlight the living space is situated at the first floor level and opens onto a substantial decking area.
